Two-year-old girl, 7lbs With ʀᴀʀᴇ Form Of ᴅᴡᴀʀꜰɪsᴍ

Abigail Lee  is two years old ʙᴜᴛ ᴡᴇɪɢʜs ᴊᴜsᴛ 7lb  from Louisiana, has a ʀᴀʀᴇ ᴄᴏɴᴅɪᴛɪᴏɴ called Mɪᴄʀᴏᴄᴇᴘʜᴀʟɪᴄ Osᴛᴇᴏᴅʏsᴘʟᴀsᴛɪᴄ Pʀɪᴍᴏʀᴅɪᴀʟ DᴡᴀʀFɪsᴍ Tʏᴘᴇ II meaning that she’ll only grow to around 24 inches tall. She wears clothes made to fit newborn babies and can sit in her doll’s furniture.

Her mother Emily Lee, 25,was first made aware that her babyᴡᴀsɴ’ᴛ growing at the ɴᴏʀᴍᴀʟ ʀᴀᴛᴇ while she was ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ. She said: ” When I was ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ, she was always three weeks ʙᴇʜɪɴᴅ in her development. I had a ᴄ-sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ at 36 weeks and she went straight into ɪɴᴛᴇɴsɪᴠᴇ ᴄᴀʀᴇ. Abigail was born via ᴄ-sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ, she weighed ᴊᴜsᴛ 2lbs 9oz.”  Although her parents knew Abigail was growing ᴍᴜᴄʜ sʟᴏᴡᴇʀ ᴛʜᴀɴ normal, she wasn’t officially ᴅɪᴀɢɴᴏsᴇᴅ until she was eight weeks old. Abigail was ᴅɪᴀɢɴᴏsᴇᴅ eight weeks after she was born when ᴅᴏᴄᴛᴏʀs noticed she ʜᴀᴅɴ’ᴛgrown at all. She toddler spent eight weeks in ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ before she was able to go home with her mother, dad Bryan, 25, and older sister Samantha, four, who ᴅᴏᴇsɴ’ᴛ have the ᴄᴏɴᴅɪᴛɪᴏɴ.

Mum Emily said: “Abigail grows two grams a day versus an ounce a day so she’ll still be seven pounds at her next birthday. She only ᴊᴜsᴛ fits into new born clothes so I don’t know what we’ll do when she gets old enough to tell me that she doesn’t want to wear ᴏɴᴇsɪᴇs ᴀɴʏᴍᴏʀᴇ. My best friend has a two-year-old and seeing them next to each other is mind blowing. Toys for kids her age are ɢɪɢᴀɴᴛɪᴄ next to her. She has a table and chairs for her Barbies that she can sit in herself. She eats like a ɴᴏʀᴍᴀʟ kid ʙᴜᴛ there are a lot of things that a two-year-old would be doing that she ᴄᴀɴ’ᴛ  and it’s her sɪᴢᴇ ʜᴏʟᴅɪɴɢ her ʙᴀᴄᴋ.

She was doing everything ɴᴏʀᴍᴀʟʟʏ, she was ʙʀᴇᴀᴛʜɪɴɢ and eating fine ʙᴜᴛ she was ᴛɪɴʏ. So when she wasᴅɪᴀɢɴᴏsᴇᴅ, we’d never heard of this ᴛʏᴘᴇ ᴏF ᴅᴡᴀʀFɪsᴍ, so had absolutely no idea what it was was. For months I sᴛʀᴜɢɢʟᴇᴅ to find anyone who had been through the same and could help. The day she wasᴅɪᴀɢɴᴏsᴇᴅ, I ᴊᴜsᴛ sat in my car in the ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ car park and ᴄʀɪᴇᴅ for two hours because I didn’t know what I was doing.

She is healthy ʙᴜᴛ she has ᴄᴏᴍᴘʟɪᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴs because she was born with ᴅɪsʟᴏᴄᴀᴛᴇᴅ ʜɪᴘs and she ᴄᴀɴ’ᴛ walk ʙᴜᴛ she crawls and she’s going to ᴛʜᴇʀᴀᴘʏ. She’s also got ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ ʙᴀᴅ ᴇʏᴇsɪɢʜᴛ so we’re having ᴛʀᴏᴜʙʟᴇ Fɪɴᴅɪɴɢ ɢʟᴀssᴇs ᴛʜᴀᴛ Fɪᴛ her. It’s ʜᴀʀᴅ to ʙᴀʟᴀɴᴄᴇ out a child with sᴘᴇᴄɪᴀʟ ɴᴇᴇᴅs and a ᴄʜɪʟᴅ ᴡɪᴛʜᴏᴜᴛ because Samantha ᴋɴᴏᴡs her sister needs more help. Samantha is an absolute rock star, she gets ɪɴᴠᴏʟᴠᴇᴅ in all of the ᴛʜᴇʀᴀᴘʏ and she’s really ᴘʀᴏᴛᴇᴄᴛɪᴠᴇ.”
