The couple defying the odds, wellcome quadruplets on Christmas this year. They were told she was a ᴍɪʀᴀᴄʟᴇ. When the couple had their first child five years ago, doctors told them their daughter was ‘a ᴍɪʀᴀᴄʟᴇ’ because Mariah had some ғᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ ɪssᴜᴇs.
Shortly after their first child was born, the couple tried to get pregnant again, experiencing four years of ғᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ ɪssᴜᴇs. Mariah said:” We started trying after her, we tried for about four years and nothing really worked. We got up the courage and we saw a ғᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ ᴅᴏᴄᴛᴏʀ, and found out I had a slew of ғᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ ɪssᴜᴇs and our chances looked really slim, just from the start. But after seeking the help of a ғᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ ᴅᴏᴄᴛᴏʀ, I got pregnant. We kind of went from, ‘Oh, it’s twins,’ to ‘Oh, no, it’s triplets,’ to finally, ‘You’re having quadruplets!’ And we were shocked.” Mᴇᴍᴏʀɪᴀʟ Hᴇᴀʟᴛʜ ᴅᴏᴄᴛᴏʀs said these ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄɪᴇsare ʀᴀʀᴇ. According to, Dr. Benjamin Mackowiak, Mᴇᴍᴏʀɪᴀʟ Hᴇᴀʟᴛʜ Assᴏᴄɪᴀᴛᴇ Mᴇᴅɪᴄᴀʟ Director Of Nᴇᴏɴᴀᴛᴀʟ ⒾⒸⓊ/ Nᴇᴏɴᴀᴛᴏʟᴏɢɪsᴛ, one in 500,000 to one in a million ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄɪᴇ shave outcomes of quadruplets.
Of course, aside from beating the odds, a pregnancy like this can come with ᴄᴏᴍᴘʟɪᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴs. But on Dec. 15, at 33 weeks the quadruplets made their arrival. The day was a special day for Mariah and Jose Marquez. Not only did Mariah give birth to one child, she gave birth to four, quadruplets! All four babies were born ᴘʀᴇᴍᴀᴛᴜʀᴇʟʏ and are currently in the ⓃⒾⒸⓊ. Jose said :”Jameson was our first 3 pounds, 12 ounces, followed by Andrew 4 pounds, 4 ounces, Joseph 4 pounds, 7 ounces and finally Delilah 3 pounds, 1 ounce.” Mariah said their daughter went through ᴍᴀᴊᴏʀ sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ at just 3 days old. She said:” Delilah is our fighter. She went through ᴍᴀᴊᴏʀ sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ at three days old. She’s already been excavated at seven days old and she’s really just fighting and doing amazing. She’s definitely going to give her brothers a run for their money. She’s definitely our champion.”
The quads are now healthy and growing each day. This holiday season they’re focusing on the blessings right under their nose. Mariah said:” Going from thinking that could never happen, to having your heart so entirely full, is just the most incredible feeling. This set of quads will remain in the ⓃⒾⒸⓊ until they’re strong enough to eat on their own. They are the most precious gift God gave us this Christmas. Thanks God !”
