A Mum has ʜɪᴛ ʙᴀᴄᴋ at ᴄʀᴜᴇʟ ᴏɴʟɪɴᴇ ᴛʀᴏʟʟs who ᴍᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ her for naming her daughter Disney after sharing the name of her baby girl with other parents. Jade Jeanes and her husband Joshua, both 27, struggled for seven years to have Disney so wanted to pick an ‘ᴇxᴛʀᴀᴠᴀɢᴀɴᴛ’ name.
She originally planned to call her daughter Belle, because being a big Disney fan, they initially considered naming their daughter after the heroine of Bᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʜᴇ Bᴇᴀsᴛ . But eventually they decided Belle just didn’t have the right ring to it and they opted for a name that’s much more unique. Opted for the more generic Disney instead. Jade and Joshua, who works in a vape shop, met when they were 19 and started trying for a baby nearly straight away. But they ʜᴀᴅ ᴛʀᴏᴜʙʟᴇ ᴄᴏɴᴄᴇɪᴠɪɴɢ because Jade has a ʙɪᴄᴏʀɴᴜᴀᴛᴇ ᴜᴛᴇʀᴜs – ᴀ ᴍᴀʟFᴏʀᴍᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴡʜɪᴄʜ ɪɴᴄʀᴇᴀsᴇs ᴛʜᴇ ʀɪsᴋ ᴏF ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇ. It wasn’t until last year they finally fell ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ with Disney – in the same year they got married and won £20,000 at the bingo. Jade said : “It came in threes . We were over the moon. We were convinced they’d have a girl and picked out a name months before she arrived in November. High on the list were characters from we favourite movies Tʜᴇ Lɪᴛᴛʟᴇ Mᴇʀᴍᴀɪᴅ ᴀɴᴅ Bᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʜᴇ Bᴇᴀsᴛ. I was just looking through the Disney princesses for ideas. And I saw Belle and thought that would be nice. It’s ᴇxᴛʀᴀᴠᴀɢᴀɴᴛ, and it’s different. After I thought Belle was a good name, I thought, ‘why not Disney?’ Then it turned out that my ᴍɪᴅᴡɪFᴇ’s surname was Disney so we had a laugh about that, joking we’d name the baby after her.”
Jade admits that even the ᴍɪᴅᴡɪᴠᴇs at Sᴛ Mɪᴄʜᴀᴇʟ’s Hᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ ɪɴ Bʀɪsᴛᴏʟ thought the ɴᴀᴍᴇ ᴡᴀs ᴜɴᴜsᴜᴀʟ. She was ʜᴇᴀʀᴛʙʀᴏᴋᴇɴ to be ᴍᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ by ᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ᴍᴜᴍs when she posted her daughter’s name on a Facebook page for parents – but says she has ɴᴏ ʀᴇɢʀᴇᴛs over it. Jade said: “Friends and family love the name, and I do too. I just really like the name Disney. Disney is quite a personality. Her name suits her and her personality loads. It’s no one’s business what we decided to call her, and I think that’s the way ᴏᴜʀ ɢᴇɴᴇʀᴀᴛɪᴏɴ is going to be honest. The hope is that by the time she goes to school with other children her age, her name will ᴊᴜsᴛ ʙʟᴇɴᴅ ɪɴ. Other kids will have unconventional names, we hope. We don’t think she’ll have ᴘʀᴏʙʟᴇᴍs at school because of that.”
Jade added: “We really can’t wait to take her to Disney World but since Josh and I both are ᴀFʀᴀɪᴅ of flying, we thought we’d start with taking her to France first. We’ll wait until she turns two, but that can’t come ᴀʀᴏᴜɴᴅ ǫᴜɪᴄᴋʟʏ ᴇɴᴏᴜɢʜ.”
