A woman who had sᴇᴠᴇʀᴇ ᴍᴏʀɴɪɴɢ sɪᴄᴋɴᴇss during her ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄɪᴇs not eats with just hergums after ʟᴏsɪɴɢ all her teeth.
Louise Cooper was 19 when she first fell ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ and found out at around three weeks into her ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ while she was working as a nanny at a ski resort in France. Within weeks she was admitted ᴛᴏ ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ with ᴅᴇʜʏᴅʀᴀᴛɪᴏɴ and lack of nutrition after almost ᴄᴏɴᴛɪɴᴜᴏᴜsʟʏ throwing up. She was ᴅɪᴀɢɴᴏsᴇᴅ with ʜʏᴘᴇʀᴍᴇsɪs ɢʀᴀᴠɪᴅᴀʀᴜᴍ during her first ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ, and even considered getting an ᴀʙᴏʀᴛɪᴏɴ when she was left ᴠᴏᴍɪᴛɪɴɢ and bed ʙᴏᴜɴᴅ for days on end. The ᴠᴏᴍɪᴛɪɴɢ meant ᴀᴄɪᴅ was left on her teeth, and at 16 weeks ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ a tooth fell out and into her hand. Louise said: “I was at work and my tooth just fell out, I caught it in my hand. I was so ᴜᴘsᴇᴛ I had to go home. I had perfect teeth before I got ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ. I had my ʙʀᴀᴄᴇs ᴏff and they were great, but I was throwing up and the ᴀᴄɪᴅ was ʀᴇᴍᴀɪɴɪɴɢ on my teeth. I wasn’t cleaning my teeth or using ᴍᴏᴜᴛʜᴡᴀsʜ as much as I would like as I would just throw up again.”
By her third ᴛʀɪᴍᴇsᴛᴇʀ Louise was ʟᴏsɪɴɢ a tooth a week and had just sɪx ᴅᴀᴍᴀɢᴇᴅ and ʙʀᴏᴋᴇɴ ones ʟᴇFᴛ when she went ɪɴᴛᴏ ʟᴀʙᴏᴜʀ. Around four months later she had sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ to ʀᴇᴍᴏᴠᴇ the ʀᴇᴍᴀɪɴɪɴɢ ones. She has ʀᴇᴘʟᴀᴄᴇᴍᴇɴᴛ ᴅᴇɴᴛᴜʀᴇs, but they now don’t fit in her mouth as her ᴡɪsᴅᴏᴍ teeth have come in, so she doesn’t wear them. Brave Louise decided to have a second child and fell ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ again . Her sɪᴄᴋɴᴇss didn’t stop until she gave birth to little Zachary, but the ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ took a ʜᴜɢᴇ ᴛᴏʟʟ on her ʙᴏᴅʏ. At the seventh week of her ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ, the sɪᴄᴋɴᴇss had become sᴏ ʙᴀᴅ Louise was ʙᴇᴅ-ʙᴏᴜɴᴅ. She said: ” I ᴄᴏᴜʟᴅɴ’ᴛ ear, drink, walk, stand, move or even lift my ʜᴇᴀᴅ without ᴠᴏᴍɪᴛɪɴɢ. On top of that, I had ᴅᴇʙɪʟɪᴛᴀᴛɪɴɢ ɴᴀᴜsᴇᴀ that never ᴇᴀsᴇᴅ. It was ᴍᴇɴᴛᴀʟʟʏ ᴅʀᴀɪɴɪɴɢ.”
ᴅᴇsᴘɪᴛᴇ being given Fʟᴜɪᴅs and had ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ taken, she be given an ᴀɴᴛɪ-sɪᴄᴋɴᴇss ɪɴᴊᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ and get ᴅɪsᴄʜᴀʀɢᴇᴅ from ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ but that didn’t put the sɪᴄᴋɴᴇss at bay. ᴅᴇsᴘɪᴛᴇ ᴅᴇsᴘᴇʀᴀᴛᴇʟʏ ᴡᴀɴᴛɪɴɢ another chidren, Louise said she knew she was Fᴀᴄɪɴɢ months of feeling like she ᴄᴏᴜʟᴅɴ’ᴛ take any more and talked to her ᴘᴀʀᴛɴᴇʀ about ᴇɴᴅɪɴɢ the ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ. She said: “Both times I was in ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ with both my ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄɪᴇs, I’d been there about four or five days, there was ɴᴏ ʟᴇᴛ ᴜᴘ in the ᴠᴏᴍɪᴛɪɴɢ, ɴᴏ ʀᴇʟɪᴇF. No-one wants to ᴛᴇʀᴍɪɴᴀᴛᴇ your own child but you want to take away the thing that is making you sᴇʀɪᴏᴜsʟʏ ɪʟʟ.”
Louise said it was just the morning before her ᴛᴇʀᴍɪɴᴀᴛɪᴏɴ that she decided to continue on, ᴅᴇsᴘɪᴛᴇ what it was doing to her. Even after Ollie, who is now almost two, was born she is sᴛɪʟʟ talking ᴀɴᴛɪ-sɪᴄᴋɴᴇss ᴍᴇᴅɪᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴ. Louise is ɴᴏᴛ ᴀʟᴏɴᴇ in thinking about a ᴛᴇʀᴍɪɴᴀᴛɪɴɢ her ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ ᴅᴜᴇ to HG. Louise is currently waiting to have more sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ on her teeth , as she needs her ᴡɪsᴅᴏᴍ teeth ʀᴇᴍᴏᴠᴇᴅ. She said: ” sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ to ʀᴇᴍᴏᴠᴇ these last two teeth will completely make me ᴘᴀɪɴ free and I am super excited to get ʀɪᴅ of them. I may look into other Fᴀʟsᴇ teeth ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ in the future but it does cost a lot of money.”
The young mum hopes to ʀᴀɪsᴇ ᴀᴡᴀʀᴇɴᴇss ᴀʀᴏᴜɴᴅ HG and that it’s not just morning sɪᴄᴋɴᴇss. Louise wants ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ women to know that their feelings are valid and that they should ʀᴇᴀᴄʜ out if they are sᴜFFᴇʀɪɴɢ.
