Raising a toddler is a handful. But raising two can feel ᴏᴠᴇʀᴡʜᴇʟᴍɪɴɢ. It’s an adventure, really. You never know what you’re going to see or hear. Colt Naylor a three-year-old toddler who decided to give his sister, Kimber, 2, a ʜᴀɪʀcut when his parents wasn’t looking. Colt and Kimber live with their parents in the state of Ohio. Breanna Naylor, Colt and Kimber’s mother, loves her kids and is very proud of them. This doesn’t mean that she’s ɴᴇᴠᴇʀ sᴜsᴘɪᴄɪᴏᴜs of ᴍɪsᴄʜɪᴇF going on between Colt and his little sister. As the saying goes, ‘ʙᴏʏs ᴡɪʟʟ ʙᴇ ʙᴏʏs’.
Breana Naylor, 35, and her husband Michael, 30, were in the kitchen when they realized Colt and his sister Kimber, two, had gone quiet. Going to check on them, Breana Fᴏᴜɴᴅ the pair in her closet, with her little girl sᴜʀʀᴏᴜɴᴅᴇᴅ by clumps of her own ʜᴀɪʀ and Colt ᴄʟᴜᴛᴄʜɪɴɢ sᴄɪssᴏʀs. Luckily, their neighbor Jen Bullock, a ʜᴀɪʀdresser, was able to come to the ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ and finish off Colt’s work, and now Kimber has a ʜᴀɪʀdo even her mother is ᴇɴᴠɪᴏᴜs of. She said: “When I saw them I was sʜᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ, but I thought it was funny. I started laughing. My husband came in and he was a little ᴀɴɢʀʏ at first – until he Fᴏᴜɴᴅ the humour in it too. He was upset at first that his little girl’s ʜᴀɪʀ was now all scattered over the floor. Colt had definitely had a good hack away at her ʜᴀɪʀ, but Jen came to the ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ. I’m not sure if Kimber is more spunky now because of her ʜᴀɪʀ, or if her ʜᴀɪʀ now matches her personality. I think the ʜᴀɪʀ definitely suits her more now.”
Breana said: “My son was holding the sᴄɪssᴏʀs ᴜᴘ to Kimber’s ʜᴇᴀᴅ and she was sitting very still and being patient with him while he cut her ʜᴀɪʀ. She was completely ᴄᴀʟᴍ and still and was just letting him do it. We explained that we ᴅᴏɴ’ᴛ ᴘʟᴀʏ ᴡɪᴛʜ sᴄɪssᴏʀs and you could tell Colt Fᴇʟᴛ ʙᴀᴅ. We had him vacuum up the ʜᴀɪʀ that he’d cut off. I think he’s learned his lesson – he ᴡᴏɴ’ᴛ ʙᴇ ᴅᴏɪɴɢ ɪᴛ ᴀɢᴀɪɴ. I’d also Fᴏᴜɴᴅ the dresses they’d been ʜɪᴅᴅᴇɴ behind ʜᴀᴅ ʀɪᴘs in them. Nᴏᴛ ᴏɴʟʏ had he been ʜᴀᴄᴋɪɴɢ away at Kimber’s ʜᴀɪʀ but he’d been ᴅᴇsᴛʀᴏʏɪɴɢ my dresses. I had to put one of them in the bin.”
Now, the ‘ɪɴᴅᴇᴘᴇɴᴅᴇɴᴛ’ little girl is the ᴇɴᴠʏ of her own mum as she ‘rocks’ her stylish new ʜᴀɪʀ do. Breana said: “I messaged her to say ‘forget about doing my ʜᴀɪʀ, I need you to do Kimber. Help’. She said she’d be right over. Jen sᴀᴠᴇᴅ the day. We discussed some options and looked at some pictures on the internet. It turned out great. I love the new ʜᴀɪʀ cut – I’m a ʟɪᴛᴛʟᴇ ᴊᴇᴀʟᴏᴜs and wish I got rock something that rad looking. Kimber is very happy and so am I. Even my husband loves it now – he thinks it’s adorable. She didn’t realise what they were doing was ᴡʀᴏɴɢ, and I think she enjoyed all the attention of getting her ʜᴀɪʀcut. I’m not sure if Colt is destined to be a barber. Every time I get the buzzer and scissors out to cut my husband’s ʜᴀɪʀ, he’s always ʙᴇɢɢɪɴɢ me to let him try it.”
As Jen rushed around to the Naylor household to ᴄᴀʟᴍ the ɴᴇʀᴠᴏᴜs Breana, she decided to ‘ᴇᴍʙʀᴀᴄᴇ’ ᴛʜᴇ sʜᴏᴄᴋɪɴɢ ᴄᴜᴛ her three-year-old neighbour had done and make a ‘cute shape’ for Kimber. Jen said: “My first thought was be ᴄᴀʟᴍ and make lemonade out of lemons. I said ‘okay, we’re going to make this cute. We’re going make sure she still looks like a little girl. I’m gonna figure out what I’m going to do with those hard lines and we’re gone make lemonade out of this. Once I went over there and looked at it, it seemed like the only way we could embrace this with ‘lemonade’ was if we embraced the lines, straightened them out, and added a few more. I wasn’t sure if Breana would be on board with it, so I ɴᴇʀᴠᴏᴜsʟʏ asked, but they were completely on board and completely joyed that this ᴅɪsᴀsᴛᴇʀ ᴄᴏᴜʟᴅ ᴀᴄᴛᴜᴀʟʟʏ [ᴇɴᴅ ɪɴ] a fun little result! It sure seemed that the entire energy about the situation was completely elevated at that moment. I got the ᴄʟɪᴘᴘᴇʀs ᴏᴜᴛ, had fun with that right side, created a cute shape to her full cut – and rest was history!”
