Gemma Maxwell was sᴛᴜɴɴᴇᴅ after her ᴡᴀᴛᴇʀs ʙʀᴏᴋᴇ threes month early after Fᴇᴇʟɪɴɢ ᴜɴᴡᴇʟʟ last March. She give birth baby Finlay so ᴇᴀʀʟʏ he ᴡᴇɪɢʜᴇᴅ ʟᴇss than the sɪᴢᴇ of a bag of sugar and was sᴀᴠᴇᴅ ʙʏ ᴘᴀʀᴀᴍᴇᴅɪᴄs ᴡʜᴏ ᴅᴇʟɪᴠᴇʀᴇᴅ ᴜʀɢᴇɴᴛ ᶜᴾᴿ. Now a year on, Gemma has finally been reunited with ᴘᴀʀᴀᴍᴇᴅɪᴄs Harry Trodden, Nikki Wilson and Sheila who sᴀᴠᴇᴅ Finlay’s life to thank them. The meeting was so emotional, she couldn’t stop crying . The mother told :” On the way to ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ, the crew ᴋᴇᴘᴛ him ᴀʟɪᴠᴇ and sᴀᴠᴇᴅ his ʟɪFᴇ. He’s just doing amazing now. He’s just such a ᴄʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀ and you would ɴᴇᴠᴇʀ ᴋɴᴏᴡ the ʀᴏᴄᴋʏ sᴛᴀʀᴛ he has had in life .”
Baby Finlay was ʀᴜsʜᴇᴅ to ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ , with Harry ᴘᴇʀFᴏʀᴍɪɴɢ ᶜᴾᴿ on Finlay for eight minutes after his ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ sᴛᴏᴘᴘᴇᴅ. Gemma said :” Finlay was in ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ for 11 weeks when he came home, and was on ᴏxʏɢᴇɴ, so we’ve ʙᴇᴇɴ sʜɪᴇʟᴅɪɴɢ sɪɴᴄᴇ then and didn’t know how to get back in touch with the people who sᴀᴠᴇᴅ ʜɪᴍ. Now that things are getting back to normal now we were able to ᴛʀᴀᴄᴋ ᴛʜᴇᴍ ᴅᴏᴡɴ. We were so lucky, and I didn’t even know what to say to them to thank them .
Dad Niall MaxKenzie said: ” I was on a different ᴘʟᴀɴᴇᴛ, didn’t know what was going on. It was just amazing how calm and normal was and how they made it out to be. We were ǫᴜɪᴛᴇ ᴘᴏsɪᴛɪᴠᴇ ᴛʜʀᴏᴜɢʜᴏᴜᴛ the whole thing. Without them, he wouldn’t have made it . They are all amazing. They were delighted to know that he’s well. We asked them if they knew that he had ᴍᴀᴅᴇ ɪᴛ and Nikki had said she went back to the ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ to ask how he was doing the week later.”
Harry Trodden said: ” Because of the sɪᴢᴇ ᴏf the baby it was with ᴛᴡᴏ Fɪɴɢᴇʀs. I was giving him ᴏxʏɢᴇɴ with a bag and even the sᴍᴀʟʟᴇsᴛ ᴍᴀsᴋ we had was too ʙɪɢ. I had to be ɢᴇɴᴛʟᴇ with the ᶜᴾᴿ and not go too deep . At 26 weeks the ʟᴜɴɢs are not Fᴜʟʟʏ ᴅᴇᴠᴇʟᴏᴘᴇᴅ, so I had to be ᴄᴀʀᴇFᴜʟ.”
Sheila Parr added: “I am delighted by the whole experience. I have been a ᴘᴀʀᴀᴍᴇᴅɪᴄ for 20 years and this is one of the most ᴍᴇᴍᴏʀᴀʙʟᴇ ᴄᴀsᴇs.He is happy and delightful, a real joy.” And Finlay was also delighted, leaving the meeting with a real ᴘᴀʀᴀᴍᴇᴅɪᴄs ʜᴇʟᴍᴇᴛ!
