A ʙʀᴀᴠᴇ mum and her baby boy are lucky to ʙᴇ ᴀʟɪᴠᴇ after she ʟᴏsᴛ ᴀ sᴛᴀɢɢᴇʀɪɴɢ 44 ᴘɪɴᴛs of ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴅᴜʀɪɴɢ ᴀ ᴛʀᴀᴜᴍᴀᴛɪᴄ ʟᴀʙᴏᴜʀ. Natasha Pollock, from Stratford-Upon-Avon, is believed to have been given one of the ʙɪɢɢᴇsᴛ ᴇᴠᴇʀ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴛʀᴀɴsFᴜsɪᴏɴs in the ⓊⓀ after she began to ʙʟᴇᴇᴅ ʜᴇᴀᴠɪʟʏ during an ᴇᴍᴇʀɢᴇɴᴄʏ ᴄᴀᴇsᴀʀᴇᴀɴ.
She needed an ᴇᴍᴇʀɢᴇɴᴄʏ ᴄᴀᴇsᴀʀᴇᴀɴ at Wᴏʀᴄᴇsᴛᴇʀ Rᴏʏᴀʟ Hᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ following a ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ ʀɪᴅᴅʟᴇᴅ with ᴄᴏᴍᴘʟɪᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴs. But she ʙʟᴇᴅ sᴏ ᴍᴜᴄʜ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴍᴇᴅɪᴄs were Fᴏʀᴄᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ ᴘᴜᴍᴘ her with an ᴀsᴛᴏɴɪsʜɪɴɢ 39 ᴘɪɴᴛs ᴏF ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ in a sɪɴɢʟᴇ ɴɪɴᴇ-ʜᴏᴜʀ ᴏᴘᴇʀᴀᴛɪᴏɴ – before the ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ ʀᴀɴ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴏF sᴜᴘᴘʟɪᴇs. It was the next day before they were able to ship in ᴍᴏʀᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ sᴜᴘᴘʟɪᴇs – where Natasha ʀᴇᴄᴇɪᴠᴇᴅ ᴀ Fᴜʀᴛʜᴇʀ Fɪᴠᴇ ᴘɪɴᴛs ᴏF ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ to ᴋᴇᴇᴘ ʜᴇʀ ᴀʟɪᴠᴇ – making a sᴛᴀɢɢᴇʀɪɴɢ 44 ᴘɪɴᴛs. And despite ᴅᴏᴄᴛᴏʀs telling her husband, Dai, 38, that she was ᴜɴʟɪᴋᴇʟʏ to sᴜʀᴠɪᴠᴇ Natasha and baby Oliver both ᴘᴜʟʟᴇᴅ ᴛʜʀᴏᴜɢʜ – and 12 weeks on are both finally back home in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warks.
During her ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ mum-of-three Natasha had been ᴅɪᴀɢɴᴏsᴇᴅ with ɢʀᴀᴅᴇ Fᴏᴜʀ ᴘʟᴀᴄᴇɴᴛᴀ ᴘʀᴇᴠɪᴀ, meaning her ᴘʟᴀᴄᴇɴᴛᴀ ᴡᴀs ʙʟᴏᴄᴋɪɴɢ ᴀ ɴᴀᴛᴜʀᴀʟ ʙɪʀᴛʜ. She was ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟɪsᴇᴅ when she ᴅɪsᴄᴏᴠᴇʀᴇᴅ sᴘᴏᴛᴛɪɴɢ ᴛᴏᴡᴀʀᴅs the ᴇɴᴅ of her ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ – but after a ʜᴇᴀᴠʏ ʙʟᴇᴇᴅ, ᴅᴏᴄᴛᴏʀs at Wᴏʀᴄᴇsᴛᴇʀ Rᴏʏᴀʟ Hᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ decided to ᴅᴇʟɪᴠᴇʀ the baby ᴇᴀʀʟʏ. On the ᴏᴘᴇʀᴀᴛɪɴɢ ᴛᴀʙʟᴇ sᴜʀɢᴇᴏɴs ᴅɪsᴄᴏᴠᴇʀᴇᴅ Natasha had ᴅᴇᴠᴇʟᴏᴘᴇᴅ ᴀ ʀᴀʀᴇ ᴄᴏɴᴅɪᴛɪᴏɴ, ᴄᴀᴜsɪɴɢ ʜᴇʀ ᴘʟᴀᴄᴇɴᴛᴀ ᴛᴏ ʙᴜʀsᴛ ᴛʜʀᴏᴜɢʜ the ᴜᴛᴇʀɪɴᴇ ᴡᴀʟʟ ᴀɴᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴄʜ ᴏɴᴛᴏ ʜᴇʀ ʙʟᴀᴅᴅᴇʀ, meaning she was ʟᴏsɪɴɢ ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀᴏᴜs ᴀᴍᴏᴜɴᴛs ᴏF ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ. During her ʜᴀʀʀᴏᴡɪɴɢ ɴɪɴᴇ-ʜᴏᴜʀ sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ ᴅᴏᴄᴛᴏʀs ᴛʀɪᴇᴅ ᴅᴇsᴘᴇʀᴀᴛᴇʟʏ ᴛᴏ sᴛᴇᴍ ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴇᴇᴅɪɴɢ, ᴘᴜᴍᴘɪɴɢ ʜᴇʀ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴀɴ ᴀsᴛᴏɴɪsʜɪɴɢ 39 ᴘɪɴᴛs ᴏF ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ – before they ʀᴀɴ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴏF ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ. The next day, after sʜɪᴘᴘɪɴɢ ɪɴ ᴀᴅᴅɪᴛɪᴏɴᴀʟ sᴜᴘᴘʟɪᴇs ᴏF ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ, Natasha was given an ᴇxᴛʀᴀ Fɪᴠᴇ ᴘɪɴᴛs – a sᴛᴀɢɢᴇʀɪɴɢ 44 ᴛʀᴀɴsFᴜsɪᴏɴs ɪɴ ᴛᴏᴛᴀʟ – and setting what’s believed to be the ʀᴇᴄᴏʀᴅ for the ᴍᴏsᴛ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴛʀᴀɴsFᴜsɪᴏɴs ɪɴ ᴀ sɪɴɢʟᴇ ᴘʀᴏᴄᴇᴅᴜʀᴇ.
Natasha said : “My ᴄᴏɴsᴜʟᴛᴀɴᴛ had phoned a ʙʟᴀᴅᴅᴇʀ sᴜʀɢᴇᴏɴ ᴄᴏʟʟᴇᴀɢᴜᴇ who ʀᴜsʜᴇᴅ ɪɴ ᴛᴏ ʜᴇʟᴘ – he was ᴀʙʟᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴘᴀᴛᴄʜ ɪᴛ ᴜᴘ, sᴀᴠɪɴɢ me from having a ᴄᴀᴛʜᴇᴛᴇʀ Fᴏʀ ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴇsᴛ ᴏF ᴍʏ ʟɪFᴇ. I also had to have a ʜʏsᴛᴇʀᴇᴄᴛᴏᴍʏ – my ᴜᴛᴇʀᴜs was ᴅᴇsᴛʀᴏʏᴇᴅ, there were so ᴍᴀɴʏ ʜᴏʟᴇs ɪᴛ ʟᴏᴏᴋᴇᴅ ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴀ ᴄᴏʟᴀɴᴅᴇʀ. It was ɪʀʀᴇᴘᴀʀᴀʙʟᴇ. After sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ I went into ɪɴᴛᴇɴsɪᴠᴇ ᴄᴀʀᴇ – I was in sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ for nine hours.” Just 12 weeks on Natasha is back at home with her ᴍɪʀᴀᴄʟᴇ baby boy Oliver, who was just 4lb 110z when he was born two months ᴘʀᴇᴍᴀᴛᴜʀᴇ, and on the ʀᴏᴀᴅ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴄᴏᴠᴇʀʏ.
She added: “I am so lucky to be here – if it ᴡᴀsɴ’ᴛ for ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴅᴏɴᴏʀs my children would be growing up ᴡɪᴛʜᴏᴜᴛ a mum. The ᴅᴏᴄᴛᴏʀs said they’ve ɴᴇᴠᴇʀ sᴇᴇɴ ᴀ ᴛʀᴀɴsFᴜsɪᴏɴ ᴀs ʙɪɢ ᴀs ᴍɪɴᴇ. My ᴜᴛᴇʀᴜs had sᴏ ᴍᴀɴʏ ʜᴏʟᴇs in it that it looked like a ᴄᴏʟᴇɴᴅᴀʀ. But now we’re all together for the first time as a family, and our two other children love their new baby brother. I would really ᴇɴᴄᴏᴜʀᴀɢᴇ everyone to ᴅᴏɴᴀᴛᴇ and ʙᴀɴᴋ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ it’s ɴᴏᴛ ᴀ ʙᴏᴛᴛᴏᴍʟᴇss ᴘɪᴛ, and you ɴᴇᴠᴇʀ know when you might need it. It’s so quick and easy to do.”
